Men's Basketball 7th Straight, Stay Undefeated In Conference Play

Box Score

New York, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball Team (14-3, 7-0 CUNYAC) won their eighth straight game, beating CCNY 67-59 at the Nat Holman Gymnasium on Wendesday evening.

The game started off with the two teams trading the advantage five times over the first seven minutes of play.  A jumper by Vincent Roberts gave CCNY a lead that they would maintain for the remainder of the opening period.  The Beavers led the Bridges by five at the intermission, and stretched the margin to 13 points on a Franklyn Dunn lay-in with 8:13 remaining.

It was at that point that the Bridges kicked it into overdrive.  Richard Jean-Baptiste (St. John's Prep / Queens, NY) and Amil John (South Shore / Brooklyn, NY) combined to score 12 points during a 14-0 run that put Brooklyn on top for good.  Jean-Baptiste and Thomas Guerin (St. Edmund Prep / Brooklyn, NY) teamed up to hit eight consecutive foul shots in the final 90 seconds of the game to seal the victory.

Jean-Baptiste led all scorers with 19 points in the game.  John, who shot a blistering 7-for-8 from the field, added 16 points to complement a team-high of seven boards and four steals.  Felix Navarro recorded a double-double for CCNY, dropping 16 points and collecting 11 rebounds.

Brooklyn will be back in action Friday night as they travel to Baruch in a battle of the lone undefeated conference teams.
