BC Women Win 5th Straight Conference Game; Ramirez Notches 1,000th Collegiate Point

New York, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team (13-4, 6-1 CUNYAC) won their fifth consecutive conference game and their ninth in their last ten overall as they defeated CCNY (9-7, 6-5 CUNYAC) by a score of 58-57.

Down one point with 11 seconds remaining, Brooklyn inbounded the ball under their own basket. Junior guard Christina Belfiore (Staten Island Tech / Staten Island, NY) drove the baseline and dished to freshman center Justine O'Callahan (Floral Park / Floral Park, NY), who layed home the basket with three seconds left to give BC a one-point lead.

CCNY's Anika Rivera (Monsignor Scanlon / Bronx, NY) got off heave at the buzzer that was off the mark, securing the win for the Bridges. 

In the first half of the game, Brooklyn's Priscilla Ramirez (Franklin D. Roosevelt  / Brooklyn, NY) scored her 1,000th career point.  In two years at Genesee Community College Ramirez accumulated 723 points and entered the game with 273 this season.  After scoring four points in the games opening stanza, Ramirez accomplished the feat.  

Ramirez and Belfiore each scored team-highs of 18 points, while Ramirez notched a game-high of seven assists.

Brooklyn will travel to Baruch on Friday to take on the defending CUNYAC Champions at 5:00 pm.
