Men’s Volleyball Downs Medgar Evers in Straight Sets

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team made the short trip up Bedford Avenue on Tuesday evening to take on the Cougars of Medgar Evers College in a CUNYAC match. The Bulldogs defeated the Cougars in straight sets, 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-22), to improve to 4-7 overall on the season and an even 4-4 in conference play. With the loss, Medgar falls to 0-11 overall and 0-8 in league play.

The Bulldogs were once again led by freshman Alexander Shlivko, who registered a game-high 11 kills, while hitting .533 (11-3-15). Junior Mohamed Taman also posted a solid hitting percentage of .545 (seven kills, 1 error, 11 total attacks) for the match. Senior Gene Tom paced the BC offense dishing out 24 assists.

For Medgar, Shemroy Primo finished the night with a team-high seven kills, while Phillip Parris dished out 15 assists.

Brooklyn will be on the road again on Thursday, February 24th, as the Bulldogs will take on the Lightning of Lehman College in a CUNYAC match. The game is slated to begin at 7:00 pm at the Apex in the Bronx, NY. BC will look for the season sweep over Lehman, as the Bulldogs defeated the Lightning earlier this season, 3-1 (27-25, 27-29, 27-25, 25-20), back on February 5th.
