Men's Volleyball Evens CUNYAC Record At 5-5 With Win Over Medgar Evers

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Bulldogs picked up their fifth win of the season, evening their conference record at 5-5, as they defeated Medgar Evers on Tuesday evening, 25-21, 25-18, 27-29, 26-24.  Medgar fell to 1-15, 0-10 CUNYAC on the season, while Brooklyn improved their overall record to 5-8.

Brooklyn cruised through the first two sets to take the 2-0 advantage.  In the first set, BC jumped out to an early 16-5 advantage, and were never seriously challenged, however Medgar did close to within 23-20, before dropping the set, 25-21.

The second set was more closely contested early, but the Bulldogs were able to pull away and win by seven.  The Cougars were their own worst enemy as they tallied 14 errors in the set.

The third set saw many lead changes, with the biggest lead coming early as the Cougars grabbed a 13-9 advantage.  Brooklyn came back to grab a 24-23 lead, but they could not close the match as Medgar rallied to take the set, 29-27, as Olando Cummings finished the set with a kill for the Cougars.

The fourth set saw more intense play as Medgar threatened forcing a fifth set, as they took a commanding 23-20 lead.  Brooklyn would bounce back to take five of the next six points, winning the set 26-24.

Alexander Shlivko led BC with 18 kills, while Mohamed Taman also had a big game with 10 kills.  Duong Thai led the Bulldogs with 25 assists, while Timothy Hui was tops in digs with 17. 

Medgar's Jeff Campbell topped the Cougars with 11 kills and 14 digs. 

Brooklyn will host first place Baruch on Thursday at 6 pm in the West Quad Center before this Saturday's multi-match at CCNY.
