Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team tamed the Bears of St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) in a non-conference match earlier tonight at the West Quad Center. The Bulldogs downed the Bears in straight sets, 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-15), to improve to 6-13 on the season. St. Joe's Brooklyn falls to 0-10 on the season with the loss.
The win also snaps a five-match losing streak for the Bulldogs.
Leading the way to the BC victory was junior
Mohamed Taman who notched a match-high seven kills, while posting a .333 hitting percentage (7 kills/1 error/18 total attacks). Freshman
Bryan Fong added five kills and nine digs, while senior
Gene Tom paced the offense with 19 assists. Tom also chipped in with four kills. Freshman
Timothy Hui was solid defensively with 17 digs.
Aiding the Bulldogs' win was their serving, as BC recorded 14 aces on the night, as Hui and junior
Duong Thai each had three aces on the night.
For the Bears, Maciej Sadowski posted a team-high six kills, to go along with 10 digs. Iqbal Husain dished out 12 assists for the match to go along with seven digs.
Brooklyn returns to action on Saturday, March 12th as the Bulldogs will play host to the Fighting Blue Jays of NYU-Poly at the West Quad Center. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start time. BC will look to avenge a loss to NYU-Poly earlier this season, falling 3-1 (25-16, 25-10, 22-25, 25-23) back on February 21st.
