Men's Volleyball Can't Get By Lehman In CUNYAC Quarterfinals, Falling, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20

Box Score

Bronx, NY---The #6 seeded Brooklyn College Bulldogs (8-14) fell to the #3 seed, the Lehman College Lightning (16-10), 25-20, 25-19, 25-20 on Tuesday evening in the CUNYAC / EmblemHealth Men's Volleyball Championship Quarterfinal Round.

The first set saw Brooklyn jump out to a 2-1 lead and control most of the set, as a David Rafailov kill gave the Bulldogs a 17-12 advantage, their largest of the set.

The Lighting would chip away at the lead, and then tie the score at 20, as BC's Gene Tom was whistled for a ballhandling error.  Lehman would then go on to take the next five points, winning the opening set 25-20.  Miguel Gallardo served up three aces during Lehman's run to end the set.

The momentum shift carried into set two as Lehman jumped out to a 7-1 lead.  Brooklyn fought back to cut the deficit to one, as they closed to 13-14 and then 14-15, however the Bulldogs were unable to pull even as Lehman went up two sets to none.

An early Alexander Shlivko kill helped Brooklyn jump out to an early 2-1 lead, however Lehman would come right back to regain the lead at 3-2 and never look back as they controlled the set, and finished off BC in three.

With the victory, Lehman will go on to face #2 Hunter College, who cruised past #7 Medgar Evers, on Friday evening at Baruch College.

The Bulldogs, who will end their season with eight victories, five more than a year ago, were led by Shlivko and David Choy, who each had eight kills.

"I am so proud to have coached these young men," said BC Head Coach Trish Morris.  "They listened and improved throughout the seaoson; we will be a team to watch out for next season."

Lehman's duo of Nate Martin and RJ LeBlanc, each had 11 kills for the Lighting.
