Balanced Attack Propels BC Past Sarah Lawrence, 25-10, 25-9, 25-17

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball Team picked up their sixth win of the season on Saturday afternoon as they breezed past visiting Sarah Lawrence, 25-10, 25-9, 25-17.  The Bulldogs saw five players notch at least four kills or more as 13 players saw action on the day.  The loss dropped Gryphons to 3-11 on the year while BC improved to 6-10.

Set one began with Brooklyn jumping to an 8-1 lead as junior David Rafailov had two early kills.  Sarah Lawrence came storming back to cut the BC lead to 13-10 as Quinn Darrow's kill capped a 9-5 run by the Gryphons. 

The momentum quickly shifted as a bad set by Darrow gave the next point to the Bulldogs, who handed the ball to senior Gene Tom and closed the match with 11 consecutive points.

The second set was all-Brooklyn from the onset as Tom was first to serve and racked up 13 straight points as the Bulldogs jumped out to the 13-0 lead.  The run saw two kills a piece for Vaughn Ford and Duong Thai, as well as two aces for Tom.

The third set was the most competitive as Sarah Lawrence was able to pull within one at 10-9.  Brooklyn's Keiran Halton was the star of the set as he put away five kills in helping the Bulldogs pull away to the 25-17 decision.

Halton led the way on the afternoon with six kills, while Thai and Ford each notched five.   Rafailov and Alexander Shlivko each chipped in with four kills, while Tom led the team with 19 assists and five service aces. 

Ezra Marcus led Sarah Lawrence with five kills.

Brooklyn will be back in action on Tuesday as they host CUNYAC opponent Lehman at 6 pm, before traveling to Baruch on Wednesday to face the Bearcats in another conference tilt.
