Women's Basketball Cruises To 86-29 Win Over Lehman

Box Score Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team started the New Year with a dominant performance in front of their home fans, defeating Lehman 86-29 at West Quad on Saturday.  With the win, Brooklyn improved to 8-3, 3-1 CUNYAC, while Lehman fell to 1-10, 1-2 CUNYAC.

Brooklyn started the game on fire as they opened a 23-2 lead over the first nine minutes. Two Brittany Bowen baskets before the half, stretched the lead to 45-8 going into the locker room.  Bowen led all scorers with 13 points at the break.

The second half saw more dominance by the Bulldogs as they outscored Lehman 41-21 in the half and seal the victory.  Brooklyn forced 39 Lehman turnovers and nabbed 25 steals, while also controlling the boards, outrebounding the Lightning, 40-32.

Vanessa D'Ambrosi led all scorers with 16 on the evening, while also tallying a game-high seven assists.  Bowen finished with 15 points. 

Center Tiffany Thompson chipped in with 14 points and six boards on the afternoon, scoring 13 of those in the second half. 

Starting guards Nicole Francomano and Charnelle Saint Laurent were solid in the win as well.  Francomano scored eight points while dishing out three assists, while Saint Laurent scored seven points and dished out a game-high seven assists.

The BC bench contributed to the win in a big way, as Trina Payne scored seven to go along with three assists and three steals, while Zoe Randolph and Sarah Shanderson each chipped in with six points.

Jennifer Navarro led Lehman with 11 points.

Brooklyn will return to action on Tuesday evening as they travel to Baruch for a 5:30 tip-off in a rematch of last year's CUNYAC championship game.
