#2 Women’s Basketball Takes on #1 Baruch College in Saturday’s CUNYAC Final

Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Bulldogs (22-5, 14-2 CUNYAC), the #2 seed in the 2013 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC)/Con Edison Women's Basketball Championships, will be taking on the top seeded Bearcats of Baruch College (25-2, 15-1 CUNYAC) in the championship final, tomorrow, Saturday, February 23rd at 3:00 pm at Nat Holman Gymnasium on the campus of the City College of New York (CCNY).

Déjà Vu
Saturday's championship final will be a rematch of last year's final, which saw the Bearcats erase a 10-point halftime deficit en route to their 65-49 victory, to claim Baruch's fifth straight conference championship and sixth over the past seven seasons.

The Bulldogs will look to turn the tables this year and capture its first conference crown since 1980. (Brooklyn was an NCAA Division I Institution from 1982-1992. Athletics was disbanded following the 1992 season and was reinstated during the 1995-1996 season as a Division III member).

The winner of tomorrow's championship game will receive the CUNYAC's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament.

Regular Season Series
Brooklyn and Baruch split their regular season matchups, as each team won on their respective home court. Baruch won the first meeting of the season on January 8th (67-54) at ARC Arena, while Brooklyn was victorious on February 4th (71-51) at the West Quad Center.

Road to the Championship
Brooklyn has advanced to its second straight CUNYAC Final after defeating #7 CCNY (71-21) and #3 College of Staten Island (78-66) in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, respectively. Baruch has advanced to its eighth straight conference championship game after defeating #8 York College (81-43) and #5 Hunter College (58-34) in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, respectively.

Hot Streak
BC is currently riding a season-high 13-game winning streak. The Bulldogs are 15-2 since the calendar turned to 2013.

Baruch has won five straight and is currently ranked third in the Atlantic Region and 25th in the latest USA Today Top-25 Coaches Poll. The Bearcats are also receiving votes in the latest D3Hoops.com Top-25 Poll. Baruch is also 15-2 since the calendar turned to 2013.

National Rankings
Brooklyn currently boasts the top scoring defense in country. The Bulldogs are also ranked third in all of Division III in both steals per game and field goal percentage defense. BC is also ranked 10th in the nation in scoring margin, 12th in turnover margin, 19th in three-point field goal defense and 24th in assists per game.

Baruch ranks fourth in both rebound margin and field goal percentage defense, 11th in both won-lost percentage and scoring margin, 14th in scoring defense and 25th in assists per game.

All-Stars
The championship final will feature six CUNYAC All-Stars, the Bert Beagle Sportsmanship Award winner, the CUNYAC Player of the Year and the CUNYAC Coach of the Year.

On the Brooklyn side, the Bulldogs are led by First-Team All-Stars Brittany Bowen and Vanessa D'Ambrosi and Second-Team All-Stars Tiffany Thompson and Nicole Francomano. Charnelle Saint Laurent was honored with the Sportsmanship Award, while Head Coach Alex Lang was recognized by his peers at the conference's top coach.

On Baruch's side, the Bearcats are paced by Jessica Duleba (Player of the Year), Frances Henry (First Team) and Sheridan Taylor (Second Team).
