Men’s Volleyball Splits CUNYAC Matches

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team was in action on Thursday night, as the Bulldogs took on City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) foes, York College and John Jay College of Criminal Justice, which were played at the APEX on the campus of Lehman College. The matches were rescheduled from the original date of February 9th, which were postponed due to Winter Storm Nemo.

BC fell to York in straight sets, 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-17), and defeated John Jay in four sets, 3-1 (25-12, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18), to earn a split on the night.

The Bulldogs are now 4-7 overall on the season and 2-2 in CUNYAC play.

Coming against Lehman, Brooklyn was led by sophomore David Dimitruk's eight kills, which tied for the match-high, to go with seven digs. Junior Timothy Hui added 10 assists, six kills and five digs, while senior Christopher Valverde dished out 12 assists, to go along with four service aces. Freshman Ricky Myint contributed with eight digs.

Dimitruk was solid once again in the win over John Jay, totaling a match-best 13 kills, to go with 12 digs, to record a double-double. Hui also finished the match with a double-double, posting 12 digs and 10 assists, to go with seven kills, while Valverde dished out a match-best 22 assists, to go with eight service aces. Myint was solid defensively once again racking up 18 digs. Freshman Serhan Akturk and sophomore Lucas Moline added six kills each. Seniors Mateusz Gotowicki and Vsevolod Tsyupa were strong in the middle, as Gotowicki registered two block solos and three block assists, while Tsyupa recorded two block solos and two block assists.

Brooklyn will be back in action this Saturday, March 2nd, as BC will host a CUNYAC Multi-Match. The Bulldogs will take on the Beavers of the City College of New York (11:00 am) in their first match of the day and finish off against the Bearcats of Baruch College (3:00 pm).
