Bulldogs Tame Bears in Straight Sets

Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team defeated borough foe St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) in straight sets, 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-20), on Tuesday night in a game played at Brooklyn Technical High School.

With the win, BC evens its overall record to 8-8 on the year; while St. Joseph's (Bklyn) falls to 2-8 overall on the season.

The Bulldogs used an early 6-0 run to build a 6-1 lead in the opening set and never looked back, as Brooklyn would go on to take a 25-10 win to go up 1-0.

BC never trailed in the second set, as the Bulldogs would cruise to a 25-7 victory to go ahead 2-0.

The third set featured a tight affair as Brooklyn would eventually take a hard fought 25-20 win to complete the straight sets win.

Junior Timothy Hui led BC to victory with eight kills and eight digs, to go with 14 assists. Freshman Serhan Akturk chipped in with five kills, five digs and four service aces, while classmate Hoyin Ki registered seven service aces to go along with eight assists. Senior Edison Chow and sophomore David Dimitruk contributed with four kills each.

For St. Joseph's (Bklyn), Martin Torres finished with seven kills, while Iqbal Husain dished out 10 assists. Raul Urshela chipped in with five digs.

Brooklyn returns to action on Tuesday, March 19th, as the Bulldogs will welcome CUNY Athletic Conference rival John Jay College of Criminal Justice to the West Quad Center. Start time is scheduled for 6:00 pm. Seniors Edison Chow, Christopher Valverde and Mateusz Gotowicki will all be honored as part of Senior Night celebrations.
