Men’s Volleyball Falls to #8 Baruch

Box Score New York, NY --- In City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action, the Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team dropped a straight sets match against the #8 nationally ranked Bearcats of Baruch College, 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-18), on Thursday evening at the ARC Arena on Baruch's campus.

With the loss, Brooklyn moves to an even 9-9 overall on the season and 5-4 in the CUNYAC; while Baruch, currently ranked eighth in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll, improves to 18-4 overall on the year and remains unbeaten in conference play at a perfect 9-0.

Sophomore David Dimitruk led Brooklyn with six kills, while junior Timothy Hui added five kills and seven assists. Senior Christopher Valverde dished out nine assists, while freshman Ricky Myint chipped in with six digs.

Baruch's Gabe Rivera notched a match-high 11 kills, while posting an outstanding .786 (11 kills-0 errors-14 total attacks) hitting percentage, to go with five digs. Scott Standring paced the offense with 24 assists, while Brian Coniglio added eight assists of his own.

As a team, the Bearcats registered a .569 (39 kills-6 errors-58 total attacks) hitting percentage power the home team to the straight sets win.

Brooklyn will look to get back in the win column tomorrow, Friday, March 22nd, when the Bulldogs will return to action against CUNYAC and borough foe, the Cougars of Medgar Evers College. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time. The match is a reschedule of the original date of Thursday, February 21st, which was postponed by the Cougars. The Bulldogs will begin the match with a 2-0 advantage due to the postponement.
