Men’s Volleyball Splits Final Day of Roadrunner Invite

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Mahwah, NJ --- In the second and final day of the Ramapo College Roadrunner Invitational on Sunday at the Bradley Center, the Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team split its two games falling to host Ramapo in straight sets, 3-0 (25-8, 25-15, 25-21) and defeated the City College of New York (CCNY) in straight sets, 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-21).

BC now stands at 1-3 overall on the young season, while Ramapo moves to 2-1 overall on the year and CCNY drops to 0-4 overall.

Brooklyn will conclude the Ramapo Invitational later today against a familiar foe in the City College of New York (CCNY).

In the first game of the day against Ramapo, sophomore Antony Koyfman led the Bulldogs with eight kills hitting .333, while junior David Dimitruk chipped in with seven kills and five digs. Senior Timothy Hui paced the offense with 15 assists and adding six digs.

The Roadrunners were led by Ryan Casci's nine kills hitting .368, while Evan Carey contributed with seven kills hitting .700. Alec Weissman dished out 19 assists, while Andrew Balint also helped pace the offense with nine assists. Balint also recorded four service aces as Ramapo racked up 13 aces. As a team, the Roadrunners hit .373 totaling 29 kills. Peter Desvousges chipped in with six digs.

In the second game, Koyfman had his best game of the invitational with 14 kills posting an impressive .550 hitting percentage. Dimitruk added nine kills and seven digs, while Hui registered 11 digs and seven kills. Junior Vaughn Ford contributed with five kills hitting .500, while sophomore Hoyin Ki racked up a career-high 31 assists.

CCNY was led by Derell Willaims' six kills, while Jia Zuen Liu Liu recorded five aces. Anthony Reyes added eight digs and four aces.

For his efforts, Hui was named to the All-Tournament team.

"Today our guys got out to a slow start," said head coach Michael Salak. "However, we rallied and were able to challenge Ramapo in the third set. Against CCNY, we played well and were able to control the majority of the match. All in all, it was great for our guys to see a high level of volleyball. Now we know where we want to go."

Brooklyn will be back in action on Tuesday, January 28th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Purchase, NY to take on the Panthers of Purchase College. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start time.
