Box Score 2 Bronxville, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team pushed its winning streak to four straight games on Saturday, as the Bulldogs picked up a pair of wins at the Sarah Lawrence College tri-match. BC cruised past host Sarah Lawrence in straight sets, 3-0 (25-7, 25-7, 25-6), and later defeated Wells College in four sets, 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-19).
With the wins, Brooklyn improves to 4-3 on the young season.
"Our guys played great today," said head coach
Michael Salak. "The match against Wells was a complete team effort. It was easy to be proud of our guys today."
In BC's first match of the game against Sarah Lawrence, the Bulldogs posted an impressive .703 hitting percentage (29 kills / three errors /37 total attacks) and 23 service aces.
Leading the way was junior
Mihail Osipov, who totaled a game-high 10 kills (.909). He also added three aces and a block assist to his stat line. Classmate
Vaughn Ford chipped in with six kills (.857), three aces and two block assists, while sophomore
Antony Koyfman recorded seven kills (.500) and two aces. Sophomore
Hoyin Ki dished out 15 assists and added six aces.
In the second match of the day against Wells, Brooklyn dropped the first set, but would eventually settle in to take the next three sets en route to the 3-1 win. BC finished the match hitting .308 (55 kills/18 errors/120 total attack) and added 13 aces.
Koyfman continued his strong play in the day with a team-high 14 kills (.706), to go with four block assists and two aces. Osipov registered a double-double with 13 kills (.346) and 15 digs, while adding four aces and two block assists. Junior
David Dimitruk finished with 12 kills and seven digs, while Ford concluded the match with seven kills and four aces. Pacing the offense was the duo of senior
Timothy Hui and Ki, as Hui dished out 27 assists, while Ki added 21 assists.
Brooklyn returns to action next Saturday, February 8th, as the Bulldogs will begin conference play by taking part in the first of three City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) multi-matches this season. BC will go up against York College (9:00 am) and John Jay College of Criminal Justice (1:00 pm) at host Lehman College.
