Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team dropped a non-conference match on Thursday evening against the visiting Griffins of Fontbonne University, 3-1 (25-13, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18), at the West Quad Center.
The loss moves BC to 6-5 overall on the season; while Fontbonne improves to 2-3 overall on the year.
The Bulldogs were led by sophomore
Antony Koyfman, who tallied a team-high 15 kills, to go along with four total blocks. Junior
Mihail Osipov recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs. Senior
Timothy Hui dished out 33 asssits, while sophomore
Ricky Myint chipped in with 12 digs.
For Fontbonne, Aaron Graue posted a match-high 19 kills, while Justin Winkelmann paced the offense with 32 assists. Dominic Prospero and Brendan Keller contributed with 10 digs apiece.
The Griffins took the opening set with relative ease, 25-13; however, the Bulldogs evened the match at 1-1 edging out a 25-22 win in the second set. Fontbonne looked to be well on its way to taking a 2-0 advantage, leading 18-15; however, a 6-0 run gave the Bulldogs a 21-18 lead, en route to taking the 25-22 win. Koyfman helped spark the run with a pair of kills and solo blocks.
Using the momentum of its second set victory, Brooklyn jumped out to an early 6-2 lead behind the strong serving of freshman
Angel Medina. Fontbonne would get back in the match, eventually taking a 16-14 lead. After BC tied the set at 16 all, the Griffins went on a 7-2 run to take a commanding 23-18 advantage, en route to its 25-21 win to go up 2-1.
The fourth set saw the visitors go up 9-3, as Fontbonne would go on to take a 25-18 win to take the match that saw 14 total ties and five lead changes.
Brooklyn will be back in action this Saturday, February 15th, as the Bulldogs will travel to Mahwah, NJ to take part in a tri-match with host Ramapo College and Elmira College. Brooklyn will begin the day against Ramapo at 10:00 am, before taking on Elmira at 12:00 pm.

The Bulldogs will look to avenge a loss to Ramapo earlier this season, as the Roadrunners defeated BC in straight sets, 3-0 (25-8. 25-15, 25-21), back on January 26th. Brooklyn will also face its third nationally ranked opponent of the season against Elmira, who is ranked #10 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll. The Bulldogs faced then #4 SUNY New Paltz and then #11 Stevenson University both on January 25th.
