Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team dropped a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match on Thursday night at the West Quad Center, as the Bulldogs fell to the Hawks of Hunter College in four sets, 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 26-28, 25-14).
With the loss, BC drops to 7-8 overall and 3-2 in the CUNYAC; while Hunter moves to 4-8 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
Junior
Mihail Osipov registered a match-high 16 kills, while hitting .294, to go along with eight digs. Junior
David Dimitruk and sophomore
Antony Koyfman each added 10 kills (.318). Dimitruk also chipped in with seven digs and four aces. Senior
Timothy Hui paced the offense with 37 assists, to go with 10 digs, to record a double-double. Sophomore
Ricky Myint contributed with 12 digs.
For Hunter, the Hawks were led by Matthew Ng's 11 kills on an impressive .348 hitting percentage. Ng also added eight digs. Ben Crusinberry finished with 10 kills (.556), to go with seven digs. Eric Lodde was solid defensively with 13 digs, while Stanley Martinez dished out 37 assists.
The first set saw competitive action as the teams combined for five ties and three lead changes. With the set tied at 13-13, Brooklyn rattled off four straight points to take a 17-13 lead. With the opening set looking to go the Bulldogs' way, the Hawks battled back using a late 6-0 run to propel the visitors to their eventual 25-22 win.
Hunter controlled the second set from the opening serve as the Hawks would take a 25-16 win to take a commanding 2-0 lead.
The third set saw another back-and-forth affair, as the teams combined for 12 ties and seven lead changes. With the Bulldogs trailing 22-20 late in the set, Brooklyn called a timeout and came back with a quick 3-0 run to go up 23-22. From that point on, the teams continued to exchange points as the Bulldogs would eventually gut out a 28-26 win to take the third set and force a fourth.
Similar to the second set, Hunter controlled the fourth set from the first serve, as the Hawks would cruise to a 25-14 win and take home the four-set victory.
Serving hurt Brooklyn all night long, as the Bulldogs committed 20 service errors.
"Our guys are getting better every day," said head coach
Michael Salak. "Tonight they made a good showing, but we are still not doing a lot of the little things that help to limit errors. I'm proud of our improvement and we will continue to get better."
Brooklyn will be back in action this Wednesday, March 5th, as the Bulldogs will travel to the Bronx, NY to take on the Lightning of Lehman College in CUNYAC action. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start at the APEX.

Brooklyn will look for the season sweep over Lehman, as the Bulldogs defeated the Lightning in a five-set thriller earlier this season, 3-2 (25-15, 25-27, 25-16, 25-27, 15-13), back on February 12th.
