Men’s Volleyball Takes Down St. Joseph’s (BK) in Four

Box Score Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team defeated borough foe St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) in four sets, 3-1 (25-9, 23-25, 25-12, 25-9), on Tuesday night at Brooklyn Technical High School.

With the win, BC improves to 13-11 overall on the season, while St. Joseph's (BK) drops to 4-11 overall on the year. Tonight was the second meeting of the season between the two teams, as the Bulldogs defeated the Bears, 3-0 (25-3, 25-17, 25-16), back on March 15th.

For the game, the Bulldogs hit an impressive .390 (52 kills / 13 errors / 100 total attacks) as a team on the night, while totaling 12 service aces and five team blocks. Sophomore Antony Koyfman led Brooklyn with a match-best 15 kills (.600), while junior David Dimitruk chipped in with 11 kills (.381), to go along with a team-high 10 digs to register a double-double. Junior Vaughn Ford added 10 kills and senior Timothy Hui paced the offense with 38 assists, to go with seven aces.

The Bears were led by Raul Urshela's team-high 13 kills (.200), while Iqbal Husain dished out 15 assists. Taso Kostikas chipped in with 11 digs.

The first set saw the Bulldogs jump out to an 11-1 lead, guided by the serving of Ford. BC would never look back, as Brooklyn cruised to a 25-9 win.

The second set featured a more back-and-forth affair, with eight ties and three lead changes. With the Bears trailing 22-19, St. Joseph's (BK) rattled off five straight points to go ahead 24-22 to eventually take a 25-23 win and tie the match at 1-1.

The Bulldogs would take the third and fourth sets with relative ease, 25-12 and 25-9, respectively, to eventually take the 3-1 victory.

Brooklyn returns to action this Saturday, March 29th, as the Bulldogs will take on both Hunter College and Medgar Evers College in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) multi-match, being held at Baruch College. BC will take on Hunter at 10:00 am and Medgar Evers at 12:00 pm.
