Box Score 2 Poughkeepsie, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team dropped its final two matches of the 2014 regular season in a tri-match hosted by Vassar College on Saturday. The Bulldogs fell to host Vassar in straight sets, 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-14), before falling to Rutgers-Newark, also in straight sets, 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-14).
BC concludes its regular season with a 15-14 overall record and will now turn its focus towards the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Championships, as the #4 seeded Bulldogs will host the #5 seeded Beavers of the City College of New York (CCNY) this Tuesday, April 8th in the quarterfinals round. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start time at the West Quad Center.
In the first match of the day against Vassar, BC was led by sophomore
Antony Koyfman's team-high 11 kills, while hitting .333. He also added five total blocks (two solo). Junior
Mihail Osipov added nine kills. Senior
Timothy Hui dished out 20 assists to pace the offense, while junior
David Dimitruk chipped in with seven digs.
Vassar was led by Joe Pyne's 14 kills, while Colin White-Dzuro registered 25 assists, to go with six digs and three block assists. As a team, the Brewers hit .365 (35 kills, 8 errors, 74 total attacks), to go along with seven total team blocks.
In the second match of the day, Hui once again paced the Bulldogs' offense with 29 assists. Osipov just missed a double-double, as he recorded a team-best 11 kills, to go with a team-leading nine digs. Koyfman, Dimitruk and senior
Lucas Moline all finished the match with six kills each.
For Rutgers-Newark, Jose Mendez posted 13 kills (.357), while Kevin McCandless dished out 30 assists. Jack Fredricks added nine kills (.643) and Cody Chidsey finished with seven kills (.333). As a team, the Scarlet Raiders hit .380 (37 kills, 7 errors, 79 total attacks). Rutgers-Newark was also solid at the net, totaling nine total team blocks.
