Women's Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Match at Home to New Rochelle

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-16) decision to the College of New Rochelle in non-conference play at the West Quad Center on Homecoming this evening.  Brooklyn moves to 10-6 overall with the loss while CNR improved to 5-14 with the victory.  The Bulldogs will be back in action on Monday, October 8, for a CUNYAC tri-match at Medgar Evers College where the Bulldogs will take on the host at 11:00 am and the College of Staten Island.

Brooklyn seemed to be in control to start the match, jumping out to a 7-2 in the first set.  However, the Blue Angels battled back to eventually take a 10-9 lead.  The exchanged short runs in an action-packed opening set.  With the set tied 23-23, the visitor took a 1-0 lead on back-to-back kills.

The Bulldogs looked like they'd bounce back in the set, taking an 11-6 lead.  CNR responded once again.  With the Bulldogs leading 15-14, the Blue Angels went on a seven-score rally to take a commanding 21-15 lead limiting any chance of a BC comeback.

CNR controlled the third set from the opening serve, jumping out to a 7-0 lead.  Brooklyn chipped away at the deficit, to come within three points of the Blue Angels, 11-8.  That is as close as BC would get as CNR would run away with the third set and the match.

BC senior outside hitter, Michaela Appel, put away a match-high 13 kills.  Sophomore setter, Claudia Moi, finished with a match-high 14 assists.

The Blue Angels served up eight aces on the evening.  CNR also finished with 12 blocks.  Imani Debose led CNR with 11 kills.
