Box Score Thousand Oaks, CA---Brooklyn College showed a lot more poise in their second match of the Cal Lutheran Invitational last night against No. 4 nationally ranked Cal Santa cruise, but were outlasted by the Banana Slugs, 3-0 (17-25, 11-25, 16-25). Brooklyn drops to 1-3 to start the season while UCSC improved to 13-2. The Bulldogs return to action this afternoon at Cal Lutheran as they take on the host again and North Central College.
By the Set
-The Bulldogs hung in early in the opening set of the match, trailing 7-5 until the Banana Slugs went on a 4-0 run to create some distance from BC. Brooklyn didn't go away, cutting the UCSC lead to 13-9 following a three-point rally, but that is as close as they would get for the remainder of the set.
-The teams exchanged points early in the second set with the score tied, 4-4, before Santa Cruz rallied for four straight points and taking the lead for good.
-Brooklyn jumped out to 3-0 advantage to start the third set. The Banana Slugs responded with a 4-0 run for the 4-3 advantage. With the scored tied, 6-6, Santa Cruz ralied for six straight, grabbing the lead for good to close out the match.

-Sophomore middle hitter, Ahmed Moawad, finished with a team high seven (7) kills.
-Senior middle hitter
Moaz Ali Choudhary added four (4) kills and a block.
-Junior outside hitter Vaugh Titus served up two aces.
Leading UCSC
-Ian Pizzuti finished with a match-high nine (9) kills.
-Justin Fortner and Ryan Manley each finished with eight (8) kills.
