Union, NJ---Leading the majority of the game, the Brooklyn College women's basketball team was stung by a late rally in the fourth quarter, falling at Kean University, 79-68. Brooklyn drops to 3-2 overall with the non-conference loss while Kean improves to 2-1. The Bulldogs will have over a week to prep for their home opener in conference play against York College at the West Quad Center. Tip-off is set for 5pm on Homecoming Night.
Game Summary
-With Brooklyn comfortably holding on to a 61-53 lead after three quarters of play, the home team made their move to start the fourth with an 8-0 run in the first three minutes. Kean took their first lead of the game, 64-63, with 5:51 to go in regulation and kept the lead from that point on.
-Brooklyn established their control of the contest from the opening tip-off, jumping out to a 10-2 lead to start the game. Already leading, 33-29 with a little of three left in the first half, BC went on an 11-1 run for a 44-30 halftime lead.
-The Bulldogs shot an efficient 6-12 from beyond the arc in the first half to Kean's 0-7. However, the Cougars shot 53.3% from the field in the second half to BC's 36.6%.
-Brooklyn committed 25 turnovers to Kean's 19 for the game.
Leading the Bulldogs
-Three starters reached double-figures in scoring for BC, led by senior forward
Chanel Jemmott's 16 points. She also grabbed 13 rebounds for the game's only double-double.
-Freshman forward,
Sarah James, chipped in 15 points, shooting 3-4 from beyond the arc.
-Junior guard,
Lauryn Clarke-Cornette added 11 points.
Leading the Cougars
-Payce Lange scored a game-high 31 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds and came up with four steals.
-Shannon McCoy added 16 points and dished out three assists.
