Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bulldogs Storm into ECAC Quarterfinal, Getting Past Neumann 77-47

Brooklyn, NY---The #2 seeded Brooklyn College Women's Basketball Team won their ECAC Tournament First Round matchup over, the pod's #3 seed Neumann, 77-47, and will advance to Friday's Quarterfinal Round, hosted by Cabrini (Directions to Cabrini), to face Grove City, the #4 seed.  That game will be at 2 pm.  The win was also the squad's 20th of the season, marking the 8th consecutive season that Brooklyn has topped the 20-win plateu. 

"I thought we did an excellent job tonight and am looking forward to see how we will play this weekend against some really good competition," said head coach Alex Lang.  

The game also marked the final home game for seniors Alexandra Moogan, Jasmine Hasngen and Grace Martinez-Espina. The trio leaves Brooklyn College with a 2018 CUNYAC Championship / NCAA Tournament berth among their list of accomplishments as Bulldogs. 

How it Happened:

-Neumann grabbed an early 9-8 lead with 4:34 remaining in the opening quarter, but that would be their first and only lead of the game, as Brooklyn would regain control, closing the quarter on a 10-2 lead.

-After taking a 36-20 lead into the intermission, the Bulldogs left no doubt in the second half, as they opened with a 15-4 run, increasing the lead to a commanding 27 points.

Box Score Breakdown:

-Brooklyn was an impressive 24-28 from the foul line.
-The Bulldogs also came up with 12 steals on the evening.
-Brooklyn held Neumann to 24% shooting on the evening.

Leading the Bulldogs

-Chanel Jemmott impressed with a 23 point, 14 rebound evening.
-Taylor George registered 16 points and 5 rebounds, while  Hansgen was also in double-figures with 11 points and 8 boards. 
-Moogan was held to only 7 points, however showed up in a big way with 5 blocked shots and 4 steals.
-Martinez-Espina added 7 points while also doing a tremendous defensive job on Nafisa Saunders, who entered the game as the 2nd leading scorer in the entire NCAA Division III.

Leading the Knights
-Nafisa Saunders and Maia Bryson each registered 13 points for the visitors.
