Purchase, NY----In their second match in as many days to start the 2025 campaign, the Brooklyn College men's volleyball earned their first victory of the season at Purchase College, 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-22, 26-24), on Thursday. The victory marks the first for first-year Head Coach,
Moaz Choudhary. BC moves to 1-1 overall with the non-conference win while the Panthers fell in the their season opener. Next Up: Brooklyn continues their frantic start to the season at a non-conference trimatch at Bard on Saturday, where the Bulldogs will take on the host at 11am and Manhattanville at 1pm.
How it Happened
- Traling 20-14 in the fourth set, but lead 2-1 in the match, the Bulldogs rallied for five straight scores to give themselves a chance to close of the contest. With the score tied, 24-24, BC would do just that by scoring the last two points of the match including a match-winning ace served up by Jason Lin.
- Already leading 16-14 in the third set, Brooklyn put together a four-score rally capped by back-to-back kills put away by Aaron Siu to take full control of the set.
- Falling behind 13-12 in the opening set, the Bulldogs scored seven unanswered points beginning with a Joaquin Calderon kill to take a commanding 19-13 advantage. Calderon closed out the set with a kill.
- Brooklyn served up 7 aces to the Panthers' 3 on the evening.
For the Bulldogs
- Siu finished with a team-high 15 kills. He also came up with 8 digs and served up a pair pf aces.
- Calderon added 14 kills and was a wall at the net, finishing with 5 blocks on the evening.
- David Lema set for a match-high 46 assists.
