With 23 victories and a trip to the 2009 NCAA Division III Tournament, the Brooklyn College Men’s Basketball has enjoyed a campaign of tremendous success. A number of players have made solid contributions, but it could be argued that the recent play of sophomore Darnell Cudjoe has made the greatest impact.  The Bridges posted a 7-1 record in the month of February, behind 8.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game from the 6-0 forward. Cudjoe came off the bench to score nine points and grab 11 rebounds on February 14th against York. Head Coach Steve Podias inserted him into the starting line-up the next game, and Cudjoe has been a fixture in the BC frontcourt ever since.
Over the course of the three games in the CUNYAC / Con Edison Men’s Basketball Tournament, which Brooklyn won, Cudjoe averaged 10.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest. He was successful on 14-of-20 field goal attempts, giving the Accounting major a team-best .700 shooting percentage. He saved the best for last, recording a career-high 15 points in the Championship game win over previously undefeated Baruch College. Head Coach Steve Podias has been pleased with Cudjoe’s performance in February, saying “Darnell became a solid low post player for us during our championship run. He solidified our rebounding at both ends of the court.”
