Men's Basketball Wins 6th Straight

Brooklyn, NY -- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball Team (11-5, 6-1 CUNYAC) defeated the CCNY Beavers (6-9, 2-4), 83-61, at the West Quad Gymnasium on Wednesday night to extend their winning streak to six games. 

CCNY took control of this game early, with a 10-3 lead with 16:37 left in the first half. After the slow start, Brooklyn began to regain its composure and took their first lead 10 minutes into the game, at 15-14. From then on, the Bulldogs began to pull away, ending the first half up ten, 40-30.

The second half was more of the same, Brooklyn start on a 9-0 run led by Darnell Cudjoe (Murry Bergtraum / Brooklyn, NY). They continued to extend their lead, which reached its peak with 13:35 left on the clock and a 60-37 score. The Beavers staged multiple comeback attempts, but Brooklyn held strong and thwarted any chance for CCNY to get back in the game.

The Bulldogs were led by Richard Jean-Baptiste (St. John's Prep / Queens, NY) and Daniel Nisbett (Michael J. Petrides / Staten Island, NY).  Jean-Baptiste had 18 points and six rebounds to go along with his three assists and two steals. Nisbett matched him with 18 points and added three rebounds, a pair of assists, and a steal.

The Beavers were led by Vincent Roberts (Holy Trinity / Baldwin, NY) and Ben Washington (E.N.Y. Transit Tech / Brooklyn, NY). Roberts had a double-double, with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Washington led the team with 18 points and added eight boards with an assist, a block, and a steal to round out his stat line.

Up next for the BC men, is a showdown with the Baruch Bearcats at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 23 at the West Quad Gymnasium. The game will be the second half of a women's and men's doubleheader.
