Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team defeated the Bears of Saint Joseph's College – Brooklyn Campus in straight sets 3-0 (30-10, 30-14, 30-27) in a non-conference match at Brooklyn Tech High School last night. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 3-14 on the season, while the Bears fall to 1-9 overall.
Leading the way for Brooklyn was junior
Adam Metzler (Rochester, NY/East High), who posted a game-high nine kills, while recording a phenomenal .900 hitting percentage in the process. Sophomore
Russell Morton (Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln) chipped in with seven kills.
Setting up the Bulldogs attack were sophomore
Samson Yu (Brooklyn, NY/Fort Hamilton) and freshman
Guillermo Melosevich (Belleville, NY/East Side), as the duo recorded 18 and 14 assists respectively. Melosevich also recorded four service aces. Sophomore
Auston Sumitro (Wappingers Falls, NY/John Jay) provided strong defense, finishing the night with a game-best 10 digs. Brooklyn totaled 22 service aces as a team, led by senior
Jason Demas (Astoria, NY/William C. Bryant), who blasted five aces.
For St. Joseph's – Brooklyn, Pat Chiarel posted a team-high four kills, while Muhammad Ali Bhatti recorded five assists and eight digs.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Monday, March 15th when they play host to New Jersey City University at the West Quad Gymnasium. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
