Men's Volleyball Falls to CCNY on Senior Night

Brooklyn, NY --- In its regular season home finale, the Brooklyn College Men's Volleyball team dropped a nail biting seesaw match to the Beavers of CCNY, 3-0 (31-29, 31-29, 30- 24) in CUNYAC action tonight at the West Quad Gymnasium. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 3-16 on the season (2- 12 CUNYAC), while the Beavers improve to 10-16 overall (6-8 CUNYAC).

As part of Senior Day celebrations, seniors Auston Sumitro (Wappingers Falls, NY/John Jay), Alexis Galarza (Brooklyn, NY/Fort Hamilton), Shawn Baumann (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein), Konstantin Batura (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) and graduate student Jason Demas (Astoria, NY/William C. Bryant) were all honored prior to the game by head coach Trish Morris.

Nick Siriban led the way for the visiting Beavers by tallying a team-best 13 kills. Matthew Ng also provided much of the offense with 12 kills, to go along with a game-best 17 digs for the double-double. Jonathan Aguirre helped set up the offense with a game-high 38 assists, while also recording 10 digs for the double-double. Manorge Joseph added 13 digs and seven kills.

Sophomore David Choy (Brooklyn, NY/Telecommunications) finished the night with a match-best 14 kills, while freshman Guillermo Melosevich (Belleville, NY/East Side) continued his solid play dishing out 34 assists, to go with four service aces and six digs. Sophomore Mohamed Taman (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) chipped in with 10 kills and nine digs, while Sumitro and Batura provided defensive help with 17 and 12 digs, respectively. Batura also had seven kills and three service aces.

Brooklyn is back in action this Thursday, March 18th, when the Bulldogs will travel to Purchase, NY to take on Purchase College in a non-conference match for their regular season finale. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
