New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball team dropped a close CUNY Athletic Conference battle against the Bearcats of Baruch College earlier tonight at the ARC Arena by a score of 62-60. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to an even 8-8 overall on the season and 4-3 in conference play; while the Bearcats improve to 11-8 overall on the year and 5-2 in league play.
The game featured a tight battle throughout with 10 ties and five lead changes. The Bulldogs shot 40.3% (27-for-67) from the field, while going 4-for-13 (30.8%) from beyond the arc. Brooklyn's stingy defense held the host Bearcats to 35.0% (21-for-60) shooting from the field, while also holding Baruch to just 1-for-13 (7.7%) from three. The Bulldogs also held the rebounding edge 44-41 and outscored the Bearcats 44-34 in the paint.
The turning point in the game came at the free throw line as Baruch took full advantage of the charity stripe converting on 19-of-26 from the line compared to Brooklyn attempting just four free throw attempts in the game, converting on two.
Down by seven, 59-52, with just 3:17 left in the game, Brooklyn used an 8-2 run over the next two minutes to cut their deficit to one, 61-60, with 1:05 remaining in the game. The Bulldogs had their chances down the stretch to come away with the victory, but would be unable to convert as Baruch would escape with the 62-60 win.

Darnell Cudjoe led Brooklyn with a team-high 16 points to go with a team-leading eight rebounds. Junior

Chris Beauchamp led all scorers for Baruch with a game-high 22 points, while Sean Loftus recorded a double-double with 16 points and a game-best 15 rebounds. Mickey Abbatiello added 10 points coming off the bench.
Brooklyn returns to action on Wednesday, January 26th, as the Bulldogs will play host to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice at the West Quad Center Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
