Box Score 2 New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team concluded its 2012 regular season at the second day of the New York State Challenge, hosted by New York University, on Saturday. BC dropped its first game of the day against Elmira College, 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-17), and later fell to SUNY Plattsburgh, 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-15).
In their first match up against Elmira, the Bulldogs were led by senior
Alicia Sanchez, junior
Jillian Escobar and freshman
Yelizaveta Malysheva, who all tallied three kills apiece. Escobar also finished with two service aces and four digs. Senior
Kathy Chu dished out nine assists, while classmate
Annalisa Carbonaro chipped in with seven digs.
In the second game, Escobar led the way with seven kills and 10 digs, to go along with four service aces. Sophomore
Kayla Scurry added four kills, while Chu handed out 12 assists. Carbonaro contributed with nine digs.
Brooklyn concludes its regular season with a 4-19 overall record, to go along with a 3-5 mark in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), good for fifth place. The Bulldogs, who are set to return eight of 12 players, will look to compete for a top-four seed once again in 2013.
