Shani Abrahams Named Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month – October
Senior midfielder Shani Abrahams has been an instrumental figure in the ascension of the Brooklyn College Women’s Soccer team this season, which posted a 13-3 overall record in just its second season of existence, including a 5-1 mark in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) to secure the #2 seed in the conference championships.
During the month of October, Abrahams, the 2012 CUNYAC Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Year, fueled the BC offense with nine goals and two assists, for 20 points in the month. She also registered two game-winning goals in the month, to help lead the Bulldogs to a 5-2 record in October. Both losses in the month came in double-overtime.
Abrahams started in all seven games in the month, while finding the back of the net in four matches. She had a career game on Senior Day, October 28th against York College, scoring all four goals en route to BC’s 4-0 shutout victory.
She had the lone goal in the Bulldogs’ 1-0 shutout victory against The City College of New York (CCNY), to lock up BC’s #2 seeding in the conference tournament.
Abrahams also had two scores each against Lehman College on October 2nd and St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) on October 16th.
An International Business major, Abrahams has also shinned in the classroom with a 3.688 GPA.
For her efforts during the month of October, Shani Abrahams has been named the Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month.
