Dmitry Prokofyev Named Brooklyn College Male Student-Athlete of the Month for October
In his first season at BC, junior transfer Dmitry Prokofyev had a solid month of October helping lead the Brooklyn College Men’s Soccer team to a perfect 8-0 record in the month, including an unblemished 4-0 mark in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), to lock up the #2 seed in the 2012 CUNYAC/Applebee’s Men’s Soccer Championships.
During the month of October, Prokofyev scored six goals (two game-winners), to go along with two assists for 14 points, while playing in all eight games and making seven starts.
Prokofyev notched the game-winning goal in 2-0 victory over Maritime College on October 15th at Brooklyn College Field.
Coming in the quarterfinals round of the CUNYAC Championships, Prokofyev played a major role in Brooklyn’s 2-0 win over #7 seed Hunter College, tallying a goal and an assist in the game.
His biggest goal of the month would be the game-winner in the semifinals round of the CUNYAC Championships against the #3 seed City College of New York (CCNY) on October 27th at Randall’s Island Field #10. The goal, which came in the 86th minute of play, was the only one of the game, as BC would go to earn the 1-0 victory to punch their ticket into the championship final for the first time in school history.
For his efforts, Prokofyev has been named the BC Male Student-Athlete of the Month, for the month of October 2012.
