New York, NY---The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball Team (8-5, 4-1 CUNYAC) held on down the stretch to pull away with a tight victory, 82-75, over the home John Jay Bloodhounds (1-14, 1-4 CUNYAC) on Wednesday evening.
After falling behind by one, 37-36, at halftime, the Bulldogs were unable to pull away in the opening minutes of the second half, but a
Richard Jean-Baptiste (St. John's Prep / Queens, NY) basket with 11:51 remaining to play, gave BC a 50-48 lead that would result in the final lead change of the contest.
Jean-Baptiste led the Bulldogs with 19 points, scoring 17 in the second half, and many during the run that helped win the game.
Thomas Guerin (St. Edmund Prep / Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 10 points to go along with 4 steals and 3 assists.
Iouri Matsakov (Abraham Lincoln / Brooklyn, NY) had a big game as well, scoring 16 points and pulling down 7 boards.
Darryl Dennis (Valley Stream Central / Valley Stream, NY) led John Jay with 22 points.
Brooklyn will return home on Saturday as they host Hunter College at 3 pm in the second half of a doubleheader. The women's game will begin at 12:30 in the West Quad gymnasium on the campus of Brooklyn College.
