Jean-Baptiste Nets 28 As BC Men Knock Off Medgar, 80-72

Brooklyn, NY---The Brooklyn College Men (7-5, 3-1 CUNYAC) got their third straight league win on Saturday as Richard Jean-Baptiste (St. John's Prep / Queens, NY) scored 28, to lead three Bulldogs in double-figures in the 80-72 win over Medgar Evers (7-8, 1-3 CUNYAC).

Brooklyn ran out to a quick 7-0 lead as they scored all 7 points in the first minute of play during their first home game since December 12th.  Medgar Evers, however, outrebounded the Bulldogs 25-18 in the first half and were able to cut into the lead, closing the difference to 42-38 at the half.

Brooklyn College senior guard Daniel Nisbett (Petrides / Staten Island, NY) led all scorers at halftime, dropping in 14.

The second half, saw the teams trade baskets early, but then BC was able to take control of the game as they built their lead to as many as 13 when a Thomas Guerin (St. Edmund Prep / Brooklyn, NY) 3-pointer gave the Bulldogs a 59-46 advantage.

Medgar Evers came back again and were able to cut the lead to as little as 2 points, 74-72, with 3:21 remaining, however the Cougars would not score for the remainder of the game, falling for the third time in conference play.

Nisbett finished with 16, while Guerin scored 10 and chipped in with a team-high 4 assists.

Jovan Deare (Thomas Jefferson / Brooklyn, NY) led Medgar Evers with 21 points and game-highs of 11 rebounds and 6 steals.

Brooklyn will travel to John Jay on Wednesday in what will be a battle of the last two CUNYAC Champions as the Bloodhounds won the Tournament prior to BC's title in 2008.  The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 pm.
