Box Score

Bronx, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis team dropped a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match against the Beavers of the City College of New York (CCNY) by a score of 8-1 earlier today. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 0-9 overall on the season and 0-6 in conference play; while the Beavers improve to an even 5-5 overall on the year and 4-2 in league play.

The match began with doubles play, as CCNY would take two of the three doubles flights to take a 2-1 lead. The Beavers cruised to wins at #2 and #3 doubles, while Brooklyn edged out a win at #1 doubles, 9-8 (8-6), as the pairing of sophomore Matthew Micharlsen and senior Raymond Chan downed the duo of Gaiell-Michell Kercy and Lear Haninovich.

CCNY would continue their solid play into singles action, as the Beavers swept all six singles flights to earn the 8-1 victory.

After dropping his first set 6-4 to Itai Achiaz at #2 singles, Chan battled back to force a third set super tie-breaker, as he took the second set 6-4. In the end, however, Achiaz edged out Chan 10-8 to take the match.

Brooklyn is back in action tomorrow, Thursday, April 21st, as the Bulldogs will play host to CUNYAC and borough rival New York City College of Technology. The match is scheduled for a 2:00 pm start time at the BC Tennis Courts.
