Box Score

Flushing, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Tennis team fell to City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) rival John Jay College of Criminal Justice by a score of 7-2 on Thursday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in league play, while the Bloodhounds improve to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in conference action.

John Jay began the match taking a 2-1 lead after doubles play. The Bloodhounds took #1 doubles with relative ease, 8-1, while the Bulldogs would take #2 doubles, 8-4, as the tandem of seniors Arvind Badhey and Raymond Chan defeated the duo of Andreas Pantaloukas and Ian Wildman.

The highlight match of the day came at #3 doubles, which featured a seesaw battle that finished in a thrilling tie-breaker set, as senior Vesna Tan and sophomore Anthony Sideris pushed the pairing of Kelvin Rodriguez and M. Nasim Allah Morad to the brink, but would eventually fall short, dropping a tough luck decision by a score of 9-8 (7-2).

Building on its momentum from doubles play, John Jay would go on to take five of the six singles matches to cruise to the 7-2 victory.

Chan took home his second win of the day, as he picked up the lone BC win in singles play, defeating his opponent Wildman in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, at #5 singles.

Brooklyn is back in action tomorrow, Friday, April 8th, as the Bulldogs will play host to conference and borough rival New York City College of Technology at the BC Tennis Courts. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 pm start time.
