Jenna Ferrara has meant a great deal to the 2007 Brooklyn College softball team. As a freshman, she had two of the most demanding roles you can have as a softball player thrust on her from the beginning of the season. She was asked to play shortstop and bat clean-up and has done an outstanding job, particularly in the month of April. In 14 games on the month, Jenna has hit safely in 11 of them, including 3 multi-hit games. She batted .417 on the month, while hitting 6 home runs and driving in 20 runs. At one point, she had a streak of eight consecutive games where she drove in at least 1 run. Jenna’s biggest games came against conference rival Medgar Evers. On April 11th, she was 2 for 4 while hitting 2 home runs and driving in 5. On the 14th, she was 3 for 3 while also notching 2 round trippers and driving in 6. Head Coach Jerry Sidman had this to say about his rookie shortstop, “Jenna has stepped in nicely to her role as a college shortstop after playing centerfield in high school. She was placed in the clean-up position and has produced.” Jenna, a Brooklyn product, graduated from James Madison High School, where she played on one of the top teams in the Public School Athletic League. If this year is an indicator, she should have a great career here at Brooklyn College.
