Samantha Rodriguez Named April Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month
Junior Samantha Rodriguez had a productive month of April for the Brooklyn College Softball team, as she helped lead the Bulldogs to a 14-11 record in the month, en route to securing the #3 seed in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Championships. Brooklyn would go on to beat #6 Baruch College in the First Round to advance to the double elimination round of the championships.
Rodriguez, a three-time CUNYAC First Team All-Star, started in all 25 games in the month, while playing three different positons (catcher, third base and first base).
She ranked second on the team in hits and batting average in April, batting .429 (33-for-77), to go with a team-leading 26 RBI and 19 runs scored, also second on the team. She tied for the team lead in doubles with five, while leading the squad in home runs with three. Rodriguez also drew 13 walks on the team, good for second.
Additionally, she registered a team-high .610 slugging percentage, to go with a .505 on base percentage, second-best on the team.
Overall on the month, Rodriguez recorded a hit in 19 of her 25 games, and had eight multi-hit games. She also drove in a run in 11 games, with seven of those games being multi-RBI games, and scored a run in 14 games, with five of those games being multi-runs scored games.
For her efforts during the month of April, Samantha Rodriguez has been named the BC Female Student-Athlete of the Month.
