The 2010 Brooklyn College Women’s Cross Country team has been paced by senior first year runner Sabrina Washington (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free), who was the team’s top finisher in the four meets she competed in during the month of October.
In the month of October, Washington, a former member of the BC Women’s Basketball team, posted four top-five finishes, earning a pair of CUNY Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors, to go along with a CUNYAC Athlete of the Week honor.
“Bree has worked extremely hard this season and the results were impressive,” said Head Coach Alex Lang. “She was one of the top runners in the conference.”
At the Lehman College Lightning Invitational on October 3rd, Washington posted a fifth place overall finish, in the field of 127 runners, completing the 5k course in a personal best time of 21:16.45. For her efforts, Washington would go on to earn CUNYAC Athlete of the Week honors.
Washington would continue to blaze the course for the Bulldogs at the Brooklyn College Invitational on October 10th, as she finished the 6k course with a time of 27:07.70; which good for second place overall in the field of 82 runners. Washington helped lead Brooklyn to a third place finish out of 10 teams. She would also go on to earn CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honors for her performance.
At the College of Staten Island Invitational on October 24th, Washington once again led the Bulldogs, this time pacing the 6k course in 26:19.93, good for third place overall out of 55 runners. Washington would once again be honored for her performance, being named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week for the second time in the month.
Competing at the 2010 CUNYAC/OAI Cross Country Championships on October 31st, Washington completed the 6k course in 26:19 to finish in fifth place in the field of 71 runners.
