Tiffany Thompson Named Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month –February
Senior forward/center Tiffany Thompson played a vital role for the Brooklyn College Women’s Basketball team that posted an 8-1 record in the month of February, including a perfect 5-0 mark in the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), as the Bulldogs secured the #2 seed in the CUNYAC Women’s Basketball Championships.
Thompson started in all nine games in the month, averaging a double-double with 11.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, to go along with 2.8 blocks per game. For the month, Thompson recorded five double-doubles.
Thompson had six games with double digit scoring totals, highlighted by an 18-point performance in the semifinals of the CUNYAC Championships against the College of Staten Island on February 20th. Thompson also added 10 rebounds to record a double-double leading Brooklyn to a 78-66 win, as the Bulldogs advanced to their second straight CUNYAC Championship game. The 18 points tied a career-high for Thompson in a BC uniform.
Along with her scoring, Thompson had seven games of double-digit rebounding totals, highlighted by a 16-rebound performance against Baruch College in the CUNYAC Championship game on February 23rd. Her 16 rebounds set a new career-high in a Brooklyn uniform. Thompson also had 16 points in the game; however, it would not be enough to win the conference championship, as Brooklyn fell to the Bearcats, 73-62. For her efforts, Thompson was named to the CUNYAC-All Tournament Team.
Thompson also had three games with at least five blocks.
Thompson finished off the month with 11 points, six rebounds and five blocks in a 70-50 win over #8 Purchase College on February 27th in the quarterfinals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Women’s Basketball Championships. The Bulldogs were selected as the #1 seed in the ECAC Metro Championships, by virtue of their stellar record during the regular season.
For her efforts, Thompson, a CUNYAC Second Team All-Star, has been named the Brooklyn College Female Student-Athlete of the Month, for the month of February.
