Brooklyn, NY----The regular season conference champion Brooklyn College women's basketball team had another strong showing with the announcement of CUNYAC Women's Basketball All-Conference honors on Monday. Senior forward,
Chanel Jemmott, would repeat as CUNYAC Player of the Year. BC Head Coach,
Alex Lang, received Brooklyn's second major award as he was named CUNYAC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year for consecutive seasons. Junior guards,
Ericka James and
Gianna Gotti, garnered First Team CUNYAC All-Star. In addition, junior guard,
Nancy Pham, was named to the conference's Sportsmanship Team.
Chanel Jemmott (Player of the Year)
Notables/Highlights
- Became the program's All-Time Leading Scorer, surpassing 1,485 points on February 1 in a conference win over John Jay at the West Quad Center.
- Surpassed 1,000 rebounds for her career.
- Became just the fourth player in CUNYAC history to score over 1,500 points and grab over 1,000 rebounds during their career.
- Led Bulldogs and ranked second in CUNYAC in scoring, averaging 18.5 ppg.
- Led Brooklyn in rebounding and ranked fifth in CUNYAC, averaging 11.5 rpg.
- On the defensive end, led the Bulldogs and ranked fifth in CUNYAC with 1.2 blocked shots per game. She also averaged 2.4 steals per contest, which was good for sixth in CUNYAC.
- Named CUNYAC Player of the Week four times during the regular season.
- Finished with 11 double-doubles (points and rebounds) for the regular season.
Alex Lang (Coach of the Year)
Notables/Highlights
- Undefeated 12-0 conference record for the Bulldogs' second straight regular season title with an unblemished CUNYAC mark.
- 19-3 overall record for a .864 winning percentage.
- Seventh CUNYAC Coach of the Year award.
- Preseason favorite to win the conference.
- Team closed out the regular season winning 14 out of their last 15 games.
- Second straight season coaching the CUNYAC Player of the Year.
Gianna Gotti (First Team CUNYAC All-Star)
Notables/Highlights
- Leads the entire nation in steals per game, averaging 4.53 per contest.
- Led CUNYAC is assists and assists per game, dishing out 108 in 19 games played.
- Named CUNYAC Player of the Week twice during the regular season.
- Finished regular season ranked third in scoring for BC averaging 13.3 points per game.
- Scored 22 points, dished out 11 assists, came up with seven steals, and grabbed six rebounds in a non-conference win over St. Joe's Brooklyn on 11/23/21.
Ericka James (First Team CUNYAC All-Star)
Notables/Highlights
- First CUNYAC All-Star honor in second season of college basketball.
- Led CUNYAC in three-point makes (66) and three-point shooting percentage (.353) in 22 games played.
- Finished regular season second in scoring for Brooklyn averaging 13.6 ppg.
- Scored 20+ points in seven games.
- Scored a BC career-high 26 points while knocking down eight three-pointers in the Bulldogs' regular season finale win at Purchase College.
Nancy Pham (Sportsmanship Team)
Notables/Highlights
- Played in and started 21 games.
- Averaged 6.1 ppg, 2.8 apg, 2.0 spg, and 3.7 rpg.
- "Nancy is one of our team leaders both on and off the court. She brings us tremendous ability on both sides of the floor and is one of the best shooters in the conference.
