Naples, FL----On Thursday, the Brooklyn College softball team played their third day of games in Florida. The Bulldogs fell to SUNY Cobleskill, 16-7 (6 Innings), in their first game of the day before being edged by SUNY Potsdam, 7-6. BC drops to 0-8 to start the season with the losses. Next Up: Brooklyn will complete their trip to Florida on Friday with a morning game against Alfred State at 9am followed by their second game of the trip against RIT at 11am.
Game 1 Recap | Brooklyn- 7, SUNY Cobleskill- 16 (6 Innings)
Cobleskill struck early, plating six runs in the top of the first inning to take control. A combination of walks, a hit batter, and timely hits—including a two-RBI single from Sam Lawton—gave the Fighting Tigers a quick 6–0 advantage before Brooklyn recorded its third out.
Brooklyn responded in the second inning. Katelyn Young opened the frame with a single and later came around to score. The Bulldogs loaded the bases, and an RBI walk by Olivia Gonzalez followed by a run-scoring groundout from Addy Cook cut the deficit to 7-2.
The Bulldogs continued to battle back later in the game. In the fourth inning, Brooklyn capitalized on defensive miscues to score three runs, highlighted by a stolen home by Haylee Burleigh that trimmed the margin to 10-5. Brooklyn added two more runs in the fifth when Aaliyah Vargas and Cook each delivered RBI singles to bring the score to 10-7.
Despite the rally, Cobleskill responded with a decisive six-run sixth inning, using four consecutive run-producing hits to extend the lead and seal the 16–7 final.
Young led Brooklyn offensively with a 3-for-4 performance that included a triple and two runs scored. Julia Corcoran added two hits, while Vida Rodrigues, Lianna Gonzalez, and Jazlyn Roberts also contributed base knocks as the Bulldogs finished with 11 hits.
In the circle, Kureshma Dhanraj took the loss for Brooklyn, pitching all six innings.
Cobleskill was paced by Sammy Fausti, who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and two runs scored while Kylie Rattigan and Baylee Yandow each added multiple hits in the Fighting Tigers' 16-hit attack.

Brooklyn College (0–8) collected 10 hits and held a 6–1 advantage entering the bottom of the seventh inning before Potsdam (3–3) scored six runs to complete the comeback.
The Bulldogs struck first in the opening inning when Lianna Gonzalez tripled to left center and later scored on a wild pitch to give Brooklyn an early 1–0 lead.
Brooklyn extended the lead in the third. Haylee Burleigh singled and stole second before coming home on an RBI single from Addy Cook, making it 2–0.
SUNY Potsdam got on the board in the fourth on an RBI single by Maddalyn Wasserman, but Brooklyn responded with a two-run fifth inning. Gonzalez singled and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Burleigh before Cook delivered another RBI hit. Jazlyn Roberts followed with an RBI single to stretch the lead to 4–1.
The Bulldogs added two insurance runs in the seventh. Gonzalez was hit by a pitch to start the inning and later scored on Cook's third hit of the day. Roberts drove in Cook with a groundout to give Brooklyn a 6–1 lead.
However, Potsdam rallied in the bottom half. After a pair of runners reached base, Payton St. Clair delivered an RBI single to begin the comeback. A series of wild pitches and hits continued the rally before Wasserman tied the game with a two-run single. Potsdam then pushed across the winning run on another wild pitch to secure the walk-off victory.
Cook led Brooklyn offensively, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with three runs scored a triple. Burleigh added two hits and a stolen base, and Roberts drove in two runs.
Jessica Bowe pitched 6.2 innings for Brooklyn College, allowing five hits while striking out one.
